Silent Killer - Friday 25th @ 19.00
Silent Killer is a project conceived by Maja Drobac, an accomplished dancer and choreographer from Croatia. Maja and Chitra Arvind have known each other for a long time and have choreogrphed a part of one of the dance productions under the Silent Killer series titled "My name is Nisha". Maja has premiered "My name is Nisha" and "For Ever" under the Silent Killer series in Croatia. Inspirations for this dance piece are true stories of the children of MILANA and the situation of AIDS awareness and acceptability in India. The recently released UN AIDS Report 2013 claims that India has managed to reduce new HIV infections by a staggering 57% since 2001.

By doing so, it largely achieves what the makers had set out to do — a film on Calcutta —a city which is the nostalgia that we carry with us. This film has won the Best Feature Film award at the New York Indian Film Festival, 2011.

The ‘Squirrel’s Birthday’ is about the squirrel deciding to celebrate his birthday with his friends. The squirrel writes letters in his own handwriting on pieces of bark to all his friends right from the whale in the ocean to the firefly, inviting everyone for his birthday. Based on stories written by Dutch writer and poet, Toon Tellegen, ‘Squirrel’s Birthday’, uses puppetry and miniature theatre to bring his story to life.Schnawwl Theater, Mannheim, Ranga Shankara and Figurentheater, Switzerland join hands to present The Squirrel’s Birthday, directed by Andrea Gronemeyer and starring Arundhati Nag.
Based on stories written by Dutch writer and poet, Toon Tellegen, Squirrel’s Birthday uses puppetry and miniature theatre to bring the story to life.
This charming piece for 4 to 6-year-olds premieres at the AHA! International Theatre for Children Festival 2014.

This time with the added attraction of an evening curated by theatre/film personality Prakash Belawadi.
The film is an audiovisual study exploring the links between politics, colonialism, science and the media, documenting the stories of Indian and North African prisoners of war from the “Halfmoon” camp set up near Berlin during the First World War. In other words: a ghost story.

Raagas everywhere - Friday 11th @ 20.00
A Unique concert of Hindustani Classical, Folk, Sufi & Western Classical Fusion, is a story of a cosmopolitan child exposed to every form of music and finally discovering the roots of all the musical forms through Raagas.
Explaining the concept of raagas through the art of story telling, music lover and creative writer Veena Prasad who narrated this concept beautifully, spun the story of a boy and a girl in love with each other and discovering raagas everywhere. The concert saw the performance of vocalists : Chaitra Sontakke, Sneha Bharat, Rishikesh Hari, Priya Nandini, Bharat Bevinahally, and P S Rohit on percussion, Kiran on tabla and Prakash Sontakke on the slide guitar.

With an attested history of over 1000 yrs it is officially recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. There are very few practitioners of this in India and we are fortunate to have got the consent of one of the living legends of this art form- Padmashri G Venu and his team to perform in Bangalore.
